RE: tandem vs single axles

Probably but you might want to try a Hensley Arrow hitch before making the big step to a new RV. You should be able to use the HA on the bigger rig if you end up going that way.

RE: Please suggest a red wine.

I second the vote for White Zinfandel. Almost any brand will work until you develop a taste for a particular make. We used to buy Blossom Hill.

RE: Stepping into the RV

Not sure what is allowed and what is not where you are now but there is a product called Add-A-Step by Coil n Wrap. Also Camping World has some very stable platforms that may help.

RE: Internet Access

You can search this Forum for `internet access' where there are more than 500 responses already. You can than search the results to get a narrower range of responses. We access the internet through our Verizon cell phone.

RE: which end to have lower?

Use the pavers to raise the RV to get the load off the tires and put a piece of plywood under the tires.

RE: Bike Rack on 1.25 receiver

Put a 2" receiver on the front of the tow vehicle and carry the two heaviest bikes up there or buy Dahon foldup bikes and try to talk the kids into using them. They fold up for storage anywhere.

RE: Where to go in late December?

Go to www.weather.com, type in any city, and find out the average temperatures for any time of the year. A week is not much time for such a long trip. Have you considered a nearby Holiday Inn with an indoor pool?

RE: Planning a trip to Amish Country next year help

IMHO the kids are too young for such an extended trip. They will get nothing out of the Amish culture. Suggest you wait another five years and go to Indiana or Ohio; much closer to Texas.

RE: TRYING TO PULL THE TRIGGER

Did you consider the Trail Manor? www.trailmanor.com that sets up quickly with hard sides.

RE: Pa to Fl...which routes

Buy Mountain Directory East, www.mountaindirectory.com, for a list of grades and curves in the eastern states. There is a sister publication called Mountain Directory West.

RE: FL Campgrounds near biking trails

There is a book that is called, I think, `Paved bike trails of Florida'.

RE: Hitch/Reciver Locks

Since you should take the load off the tires anyway how about jacking up the TT and putting RR ties under the frame and take off the tires. That would really make it difficult to steal it; perhaps impossible.

RE: Our First Trip "Out West"

We just spent a month touring Roosevelt, Glacier, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Would gladly send you a disk with all of our photos and itinerary if you send me a private message with your snail mail address where I can send the disk and info. A couple of years ago we took the Adventure Caravans tour called Grand Circle tour of the Western Parks which include all of the southern parks including Arches, Grand Canyon, etc. You can see the itinerary on their website www.adventurecaravans.com. It took the entire month of September. So that's two months worth of sightseeing!

RE: Surge protector

A corollary question is which is better, the portable surge protector or built in? We have a permanent 30 amp surge protector from Camping World and I installed it next to the fuse panel in the bedroom cabinet.

RE: Traveling from Yellowstone to Black Hills - Best Route?

Taking scenic routes and avoiding stress with a 40' MH is an oxymoron in my opinion. (opinions are cheap) To avoid stress take the interstates. They are bad enough when you have 10 miles of either 6% up or down. Also get a copy of Mountain Directory West, www.mountaindirectory.com.

RE: Slide-out Awning Flapping

Buy a long piece of rope and throw it over the awning and bring it around and the ends together; not tight but just enough to stop the flapping. Where do you camp? We've never had winds that strong!

RE: Blue tank use for black water??

Search this Forum for Blue Tote and read on. I think the idea is gross!

RE: Using TT in Winter

Out of curiosity how do you empty the Black Tank in the woods?

RE: catalytic heaters fueled by propane

I'd be more concerned about the safety of a propane powered heater unless you can't hook up to the campground electric.

RE: MaxxAir Vent covers - need help

We have two Maxxair Covers and the vent cover hits them when open about 3/4 of the way. IMHO there is not enough restriction of air flow to spend any more money for something better.
